It is 100% possible and the most common to not be competing with others in the game. Others are just in it for the competition, but most days at the archery range there are only a handful of people, none of them there competing with each other at all. The vast majority are hunters who want to practice and enjoy state level competitions.

Only at the highest international or collegiate level are people practicing with their team. That only happens when we decide we want to bet and usually need to bring in handicaps.Īnd you are just wrong with archery. Most of the time we are not comparing scores in any sort of meaningful way to figure out who won. Yeah, I go to the golf course with friends. I am an archer and have golfed competitively. Archery is often done with teammates until competitions. These games have far, far more interaction than is often suggested. For example, there may be a dice that you need but you can know by looking at the state of everyone's boards that there's a high probability it will become available to you later as well and meanwhile there's another dice there might be less likely to come back out, or which may be important to take to prevent an opponent from getting it, etc. For example, in Sagrada you are not only competing for cheaper special abilities, but you might also choose to take a special ability specifically to increase its cost so as to make it inaccessible to another player who needs it for their board, and you also need to try to plan out what dice to take and when so as to make sure you get what you need and to try to deny an opponent key dice. Some of these games have even more value to accounting for other players than already mentioned, too. The overuse of this term has frustrated me for a long time.
